I am a theatre teacher and playwright passionate about arts education and creating zany, engaging, and meaningful plays for school and community theaters.
I have taught as an arts educator for almost ten years, teaching playwriting, acting, improv, and puppetry. I have taught with various arts organizations in New York City including Arts Connection, Urban Arts Partnership, Project Art, Writers Theatre of New Jersey, and others.
I also devised plays with young people in both the Philippines and Thailand while there on artist residencies.
I also have taught theatre in Kansas, at the Topeka Civic Theatre and Academy in Topeka, Kansas, and The William Inge Center for the Arts in Independence, Kansas.
I have over 50 plays published and have had work performed in all 50 states, as well as, internationally in Australia, Bermuda, Canada, Ireland, Taiwan, Turkey, Singapore, and South Africa. My work for school and community theatre is published with Big Dog Plays, Heuer Publishing, Brooklyn Publishers, Pioneer Drama, Plays Magazine, and others.
My theatre education resource book, A Little Drama: Playful Activities for Early Childhood is published with Red Leaf Press.
I have a BFA from the University of Kansas with minors in Art history and English. I also have a Masters in Educational Theatre for Colleges and Communities from New York University.
